Crescent Moon Visibility of Shawwal 1444 AH
Prediction: The crescent visibility map below for Shawwal 1444 (RHS) shows that the moon will be born on 20 April 2023 at 04:13 GMT/UT, but it will not be visible by the naked-eye anywhere in the UK to Morocco (MA) region on that date. However, on 21 April 2023, the moon may be easily seen in the UK and in most parts of the world. Hence, the month of Shawwal is most likely to start from 22 April 2023, InShaAllah. Note that there will be a total solar eclipse on 20 April 2023 across Asia to Australia and a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse on 5 - 6 May 2023 across Europe to Africa.

On Thursday 20th April 2023 (29th Ramadan 1444 AH) the Hilal of Shawwal 1444 was not sighted in the UK to Morocco region. We have also received a negative sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).
Therefore, the start of the month based on the Regional (UK – MA) and Local (UK-only) Moon Sighting criteria are given below.
Regional (UK - MA): the month of Ramadan 1444 AH will complete 30 days and the month of Shawwal 1444 AH (Eid-ul Fitr) will start from Saturday 22nd April 2023, InShaAllah.
Local (UK-only): the month of Ramadan 1444 AH will complete 30 days and the month of Shawwal 1444 AH (Eid-ul Fitr) will start from Saturday 22nd April 2023, InShaAllah.
