Crescent Moon Visibility of Rajab 1447 AH
Prediction: The crescent visibility map below for Rajab 1447 (RHS) shows that the moon will be born on 20 December 2025 at 01:43 GMT/UT, but it will not be visible by the naked eye anywhere in the UK to Morocco region on that date. However, on 21 December 2025, the moon may be visible in Morocco, but [may] not be in the UK. Hence, Rajab is likely to start on 22 & 23 December 2025 in Morocco and the UK, respectively (applying the "30-days complete" rule), InShaAllah. [UK Major Lunar Standstills Q&A]

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "This is a precautionary report to the ICOP website (on 28th UK): It was totally cloudy and raining in York today (21/12/2025) so the moon was not seen. Technically, the moon was too low on the horizon after sunset (Alt < 3°) and was not expected to be seen due to the Major Lunar Standstill year in the UK (2025)".

Blackburn (Mellor)
Seen after sunset: On 22 Dec 2025, ICOUK member Mr Hameed Mamaniat from Blackburn (Mellor) City in the Lancashire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye and Telescope.
Mr Hameed Mamaniat commented: "I arrived on site at the usual Blackburn Mellor location early in the afternoon. Using my GT71 telescope, I imaged the Moon in both infrared (720 nm) and colour before sunset, with live images captured at 15:30 GMT. Sunset occurred at 15:51 GMT. The Moon was visually confirmed using a 25 mm telescope eyepiece at 15:45 GMT, before sunset, and again at 16:15 GMT. Another brother (Mohammad Quraishi) joined me later and also confirmed the sighting through the telescope eyepiece. Naked-eye sightings were made on three separate occasions shortly after 16:30 GMT, each lasting a few seconds. Under normal conditions, this should have been an easy Moon to observe; however, significant cloud cover made visibility difficult. I used a green laser pointer attached to the telescope to indicate the Moon’s position. Without this aid, the Moon could easily have been missed at this location due to the very limited gaps in the clouds".
Seen after sunset: On 22 Dec 2025, ICOUK member Mr Mohammad Quraishi from Blackburn (Mellor) City in the Lancashire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.
Mr Mohammad Quraishi commented: "Tonight I joined Br Hameed Mamaniat at Mellor (Blackburn) to sight the new crescent for Rajab. I witnessed the crescent with the naked eye at 16:29 GMT, initially, and then later a second time as the horizon was quite cloudy apart from some gaps. This was a difficult sighting due to the atmospheric conditions obscuring visibility. Brother Hameed had brought imaging equipment and optical aids. The moon was located with digital imaging as well as optical aids before we both eventually saw the crescent with the naked eye. Alhamdulillah, Brother Hameed's assistance in tracking the moon location helped us see the crescent with our eyes".
