Not seen after sunset: On 03 Jan 2022, ICOUK member Mr Juned Patel from Bolton City in the Greater Manchester County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye or Binoculars or Telescope.

Mr Juned Patel commented: "I attempted to capture the crescent this evening using a telescope but could not see it. [Submitted on 4/1/2022 - Admin]".


Caerphilly

Not seen after sunset: On 03 Jan 2022, ICOUK member Mr Owain Omer Williams from Caerphilly City in the Caerphilly County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Mr Owain Omer Williams commented: "Stayed out until 17:17, and changed the vantage point on the mountain twice, but the cloud cover was impenetrable. Crescent not sighted".

Not seen after sunset: On 03 Jan 2022, ICOUK member Ms Rahma Alfarsy from Lewisham City in the Greater London County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Ms Rahma Alfarsy commented: "It was completely overcast so the Hilal was not seen".

Not seen before sunset: On 03 Jan 2022, ICOUK member Eng Qamar Uddin from York City in the North Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "It was fairly sunny up to half an hour before sunset in York today (3/1/2022), but it became totally cloudy just before sunset, so the moon wasn’t seen (nor any bright stars like Venus). However, since the sunset point was noted today (see photo), we hope to see it easily tomorrow (weather permitting), inshaAllah".

Prof Hassan Talibi commented: "بصعوبة كبيرة جدا رصدت هلال جمادى الآخرة أهله الله علينا باليمن والإيمان والسلامة والإسلام والصحة والعافية ورفع الوباء. كان هذا الهلال من أصعب وأرفع الأهلة التي رصدت طوال تجربتي فالحمد لله الذي مكننا من رصده وتصويره. / Translation: I have spotted the crescent moon of Jumada Al-Akhira with great difficulty. May Allah bless us with peace, faith, safety, Islam, health and wellness, and lifting the epidemic. This crescent moon was one of the most difficult and the highest that was observed throughout my experience. Praise be to Allah, who enabled us to sight it and photograph it".

Ms Shemanara Haq commented: "New location positive sighting at Brotton, Saltburn by the Sea. Sunset 3.53 pm and moonset 5.50 pm. Observation with naked eyes at 4.02 pm with Sr Lucy, Sr Julie, 2 non-Muslim ladies and 4 children. First photo was taken at 4.02 pm and the second photo at 4.59 pm with iPhone 12 mini".

Ms Julie Breen commented: "The crescent was easily seen after sunset in a clear sky".


York

Seen after sunset: On 04 Jan 2022, ICOUK member Eng Qamar Uddin from York City in the North Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye and Binoculars.

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "It was cloudy forecast after sunset in York today (4/1/2022), but the moon was quite far away from the sun (Elongation = 27 deg) and at fairly high in the sky (Altitude = 9 deg) at sunset, so it was easily seen by the naked eye at 4:06 pm (Alhamdulillah), even though the photos were taken about 15 mins later (after the change of camera battery). Many other UK locations have also seen the moon, MashaAllah. This was a very important sighting for the UK as it precedes consecutive 29th-day sightings in a row, to avoid the potential of a 28th day next month".


Announcement for start of Jumada Al-Akhira 1443 AH

On Monday 3rd January 2022 (29th Jumada Al-Ula 1443 AH) the Hilal of Jumada Al-Akhira 1443 was not sighted in the UK but it was sighted in Morocco. We have also received a positive sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).

Therefore, the month of Jumada Al-Ula 1443 AH will have 29-days and the month of Jumada Al-Akhira 1443 AH will start from Tuesday 4th January 2022, InShaAllah. [Note: Trial Testimonies for UK-only moon sighting will be conducted on Tuesday 4/1/2022 8:30 PM, InshaAllah]

Note that Saudi Arabia do not normally make any official Hilal Sighting announcement from Safar to Shaban (as they usually follow the Ummul Qura Calendar in these months).
