The crescent visibility map below for Rajab 1439 shows that moon will be born on 17 March 2018 at 13:11 GMT/UT, but it will not be visible by the naked-eye anywhere in the UK/Morocco region on that date. However, on 18 March 2018 the moon will be easily visible in the UK and in most countries of the world. Hence, the month of Rajab is most likely to start from 19 March 2018, InShaAllah.

Bolton

Not seen after sunset: On 18 Mar 2018, ICOUK member Dr Nazish Ashraf from Bolton City in the Greater Manchester County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Dr Nazish Ashraf commented: "Group [comprised of] Dr Ashraf, Du'a Qedwai, Samiea Ashraf. Poor cloudy conditions, observed until moonset time 19.26 - Hilal not seen".


Cradley Heath

Not seen after sunset: On 18 Mar 2018, ICOUK member Mr Modoris Ali from Cradley Heath City in the West Midlands County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Mr Modoris Ali commented: "I had a look through the window,I could see it was cloudy. It was freezing, snow on the foot path".


Rochdale

Not seen after sunset: On 18 Mar 2018, ICOUK member Mufti Zaheer Aslam from Rochdale City in the Greater Manchester County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Mufti Zaheer Aslam commented: "These pictures were taken last month on the 17th February after Maghrib. I was a bit annoyed that I missed it, gave it a good try though".


Slough

Not seen after sunset: On 18 Mar 2018, ICOUK member Mr Mohammad Baig from Slough City in the Berkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Mr Mohammad Baig commented: "It was not only totally cloudy, it was also snowing at the time of attempted observation".


York

Not seen after sunset: On 18 Mar 2018, ICOUK member Eng Qamar Uddin from York City in the North Yorkshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally Cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: "Following the success of last month’s observation in York on 17/2/2018, we were joined by a larger group of people this month, including four Ulama from Leeds and a few astronomers from York. Unfortunately, the Hilal of Rajab 1439 was not sighted as it was totally cloudy following snowing earlier in the day (see photos). It seems Northern Ireland and Scotland (Highlands) had much better chance to sight the Hilal this month and so we look forward to our members in those areas to send us sighting reports in future, InshaAllah".


Saudi Arabia

Abha

Seen after sunset: On 18 Mar 2018, ICOUK member Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel from Abha City in the Aseer County (Saudi Arabia) mentioned that the sky was Partly Cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye and Binoculars.

Hafiz Dr Ayyub Patel commented: "Partly cloudy but seen easily first by binoculars then by naked eye. stayed for about 30 min due to clouds".


Announcement for start of Rajab 1439 AH

On Sunday 18th March 2018 (29th Jumada Al-Akhira 1439 AH) the Hilal of Rajab 1439 was not sighted in the UK (due to clouds/snow), but it was sighted in Morocco. We have also received a positive sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry (login to view).

Therefore, the month of Jumada Al-Akhira 1439 AH will have 29-days and the month of Rajab 1439 AH will start from Monday 19th March 2018, InShaAllah.

Note that Saudi Arabia do not normally make any official Hilal Sighting announcement from Safar to Shaban (as they usually follow the Ummul Qura Calendar in these months).
