We walked further along into the field to get pass the tree line. It's a hilly area so the sun sets behind a hilly section in the distance a few minutes before actual sunset time. But there is a clear view of the horizon. It's a nice open space with local walkers. However, it's in an isolated location so any future events need to be carefully planned with safety in mind. There is car parking in bays adjacent to the fields.  [Submitted on 23/6/2020 - Admin]”.

Mr Juned Patel commented: “On Sunday, 21 of June 2020 between 21:35 to 22:15 (Sunset 21:43 & Moonset 22:11) at Location: Belmont Rd, Rivington, Bolton, Lancashire, UK (53°38’45″N, -2°31’43″W); we a group of 10 people attempted to sight the crescent moon (Hilal) of Dhul-Qaidah. We were not able to sight the Hilal and the western horizon was completely covered with very dense clouds”.

Shaykh Sulayman Gani commented: “Imam Safwan Hussain and I arrived at Riddelsdown Park 30 minutes before sunset. It was a spectacular view. We offered our Maghrib Salah and then we were joined by Dr Rizwan Irshad and his children. We did not spot the crescent moon after sunset. With the [moon] altitude of 2° at sunset, it was not possible to sight the 13:41 hours old moon”.

Eng Qamar Uddin commented: “I went to my sighting location well before sunset but it was partly cloudy and the sunset was almost close to the horizon. I waited almost an hour until nearly moonset time, but unfortunately, the thick dark bank of clouds above the sunset position didn’t move away so the Hilal was not seen. I am pleased to hear many people in the Midlands and Greater London area have seen it, Alhamdulillah”.


Bolton

Not seen after sunset: On 22 June 2020, ICOUK member Mr Muhammad Arshad Dar from Bolton City in the Greater Manchester County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye and/or Binoculars.

Mr Muhammad Arshad Dar commented: “I, brother Juned and Sameer attempted moonsighting between 21:30 and 23:00. The Western horizon was completely covered by thick and dark clouds. Moon was not seen. [Submitted on 23/6/2020 - Admin]”.

Not seen after sunset: On 22 June 2020, ICOUK member Dr Wajida Hannani from Belfast City in the Northern Ireland County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Totally cloudy, the crescent was not seen by Naked-eye.

Croydon (Pollards Hill)

Seen after sunset: On 22 June 2020, ICOUK member Shaykh Sulayman Gani from Croydon (Pollards Hill) City in the Greater London County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Clear, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.

Shaykh Sulayman Gani commented: “Today [22/6/2020] I was all alone to attempt a sighting of the crescent moon from Pollards Hill North. About 25 minutes after sunset I was able to see the moon with the naked eye.  [Submitted on 23/6/2020 - Admin]”.

Seen after sunset: On 22 June 2020, ICOUK member Mr Mushahid Khan from Stockport City in the Greater Manchester County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.

Mr Mushahid Khan commented: “Alhamdulillah I and a brother went Stockport and even though the cloud cover was over 60 per cent we still managed to locate the moon. If it wasn't for the binoculars we would never have spotted the Moon. We spotted the Moon using binoculars at 10:05 pm and with the naked eye at 10:10 pm. Seen after sunset: On 22 June 2020, ICOUK member Mr Baber Siddiqi from London (Northolt) City in the Greater London County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Clear, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.

Mr Baber Siddiqi commented: “A small group of us went out for the monthly sighting. It was the 29th Shawaal 1441 AH for us as we completed 30 days of Ramadan based on our previous month's negative sighting in Lands End, Cornwall. We were able to sight the new crescent moon about 15 minutes after sunset with the naked eye (by Christopher & Baber). We used our binoculars to help others view the crescent as it was not so easy to see but they were also able to witness it with the naked eye once it got a bit more darker. Gloucester

Seen after sunset: On 22 June 2020, ICOUK member Mr Mohammed Imran Moolla from Gloucester City in the Gloucestershire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.

Mr Mohammed Imran Moolla commented: “The observation was made from Cud Hill viewpoint outside of Gloucester. I arrived at 21:20 before sunset to observe the sun setting. The sky was mainly clear, although there was a layer of cloud built up above the western horizon. The crescent moon appeared approximately 50 mins later. It was very faint and first sighted by a co-observer (Mr Bilal Huggins). I was able to observe it myself with the naked eye. With the low lying cloud, it was visible for approximately 10 minutes. The second photo (taken on iPhone using zoom) shows the crescent slightly above and to the right of the centre of the image. [Submitted on 9/7/2020 - Admin]”.


Oxford

Seen after sunset: On 22 June 2020, ICOUK member Mr Neamul Mohsin from Oxford City in the Oxfordshire County (United Kingdom) mentioned that the sky was Partly cloudy, the crescent was Seen by Naked-eye.

Mr Neamul Mohsin commented: “The Hilal was easily seen. PLEASE NOTE that this sighting report refers to a sighting which took place on 22 June 2020. [Submitted on 12/8/2020 - Admin]”.


Announcement for start of Dhul Qaidah 1441 AH

On Sunday 21st June 2020 (29th Shawwal 1441 AH), the Hilal of Dhul Qaidah 1441 was not sighted in the UK/Morocco Region. We have also received a negative sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry by fax. Therefore, the month of Shawwal 1441 AH will complete 30-days and the month of Dhul Qaidah 1441 AH will start from Tuesday 23rd June 2020, InShaAllah

Note that Saudi Arabia do not normally make any official Hilal Sighting announcement for Dhul Qaidah (as they usually follow the Ummul Qura Calendar).
